At a time when Quebec is expecting a significant number of tourists during the coming summer, hotel owners are puzzled by the severe shortage of labor.
Michel Durier, owner of the Champlain Hotel, stated, "How will we spend the summer? The phone keeps ringing, but I don't have enough people to answer it. I won't have enough staff to take care of all the hotel rooms."
For hotel owners in Quebec, the solution lies in attracting foreign labor and playing the immigration card as the most important card to reduce the labor shortage before summer.
Hotel owners promise to improve salaries and benefits to attract as many employees as possible. They also call on the provincial government to simplify immigration procedures.
