Durham Police said the driver who was spotted at the scene of a suspected bank robbery in Ajax crashed his car into a house while trying to flee the area on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 11:20 PM on March 3, and Durham Police said they were called to investigate a break-in at the Scotia Bank branch located at 15 Westney Road, where they noticed a suspicious vehicle.
Durham Police told CP24: "The car tried to flee the area, and as a result, the suspicious vehicle crashed into a nearby residence in the Westney Road and Finley Street area."
Photos from the scene showed the rear of the car protruding through a hole in the house wall, with hazard lights still flashing. There is a broken fence nearby.
Police said the driver of the suspicious vehicle was arrested and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The residents of the house were not harmed, but the house was evacuated so that an engineer could inspect the structural safety of the home.
Police said another suspicious man was found near the bank and was detained by police in connection with the incident.
