The Canadian Statistics Agency said that the country recorded its highest annual population growth rate in more than six decades last year.
The agency says the population grew by 3.2 percent, the fastest pace since 1957 when it grew by 3.3 percent.
Thus, the population reached 40,769,890 people on January 1, 2024.
The total number increased by 1,271,872 individuals compared to the beginning of 2023.
The Canadian Statistics Agency says most of the growth was due to temporary immigration last year, confirming that without temporary immigration, Canada's population growth rate would have been 1.2 percent.
