The famous actor Donald Sutherland, who is known for the privacy of his personal life, is finally ready to allow the public to get to know his story.

He will share behind-the-scenes moments from 60 years in the spotlight in his memoir Made Up, But Still True.

Sutherland was born in Saint John and rose to fame after his early roles in Dirty Dozen and M.A.S.H. Since then, he has received many awards including an honorary Oscar, two Golden Globes, the Order of Canada, and even a Canadian postage stamp bearing his image.

This book provides details about Sutherland’s adventures, victories, and experiences on and off set, his strong relationship with his parents, and the health scares that nearly killed him and his earliest and enduring loved ones. With his distinctive humor, sensitivity, and surprising honesty, “Sutherland” opens up about the life of a Hollywood icon and all that comes with it.

Made Up, But Still True will be published by Viking Canada and will be available on shelves on November 12, 2024.
