Amin al-Sharq, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein al-Sheikh, said that the US House of Representatives' approval of a ban on members of the Palestine Liberation Organization entering the United States is a serious decision against the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people.
Al-Sheikh added in a press statement issued by his office today, Thursday, that the decision affects the rights of the Palestinian people and goes beyond the international position that acknowledges these rights and recognizes the organization as the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinians.
Al-Sheikh called on the US administration to respond and clarify this decision.
On Wednesday, the US House of Representatives approved a bill banning all members of the Palestine Liberation Organization from entering US territory, and the bill received the support of 422 members of the House of Representatives, with only two votes against it.
The bill also stipulates a ban on entry for individuals affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movements (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad, as well as participants in the October 7 attack on Israel.
Since October 7, Israel has been waging a war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, resulting in more than 26,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, in addition to widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis after Hamas launched a surprise attack on a number of military bases and Israeli towns adjacent to the border with the Strip, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis, according to Israeli authorities.
