The closing ceremony of the twentieth Zurich International Film Festival took place at the "Opera House" of Zurich, with the presence of the jury members of the various competition sections, officials of this prestigious film event, filmmakers attending the festival, and enthusiasts of the seventh art. The film "The Apprentice," directed by "Ali Abbasi," featured the Iranian director who lives in Europe, "Sebastian Stan" as the main actor and "Maria Bakalova," with this film produced by Canada, Denmark, and Ireland.
“Main International Competition” Awards
The jury members of the "Main International Competition" section at the twentieth Zurich International Film Festival included; "Lee Daniels," an American director - head of the jury, "Souheila Yacoub," a Swiss actress, "Jo Willems," a cinematographer from Belgium, "Ewa Puszczyńska," a producer from Poland, and "Sophie Deraspe," a director from Canada, announced their votes as follows:
“Golden Eye” Award for Best Film
The prestigious "Golden Eye" award for Best Film at this festival was awarded to the film "On Becoming a Guinea Fowl," directed by "Rungano Nyoni," a co-production between Great Britain, Ireland, and Zambia.
Special Jury Mention
The film "Brief History of a Family," directed by "Jianjie Lin," which is a co-production between China, France, Denmark, and Qatar, received a special mention from the jury of this festival.
“International Documentary Competition” Awards
The jury members of the "International Documentary Competition" included; "Kevin Macdonald," a director, screenwriter, and producer from England - head of the jury, "Franziska Sonder," a producer from Switzerland, "Vincent Kelner," a director and cinematographer from France, "Anna Hints," a director from Estonia, and "Ben Bernhard," a director and cinematographer from Germany, announced their awards as follows:
“Golden Eye” Award for Best Documentary Film
The prestigious "Golden Eye" award for Best Documentary Film in this section of the festival was awarded to the feature documentary "Black Box Diaries," directed by "Shiori Itō," a co-production between Japan, America, and England.
Special Jury Mention
The feature documentary "Sabbath Queen," directed by "Sandi DuBowski," produced in the United States, received a special mention from the jury of this festival.
Great Jury Appreciation
The feature documentary "Marching in the Dark," directed by "Kinshuk Surjan," a co-production between the Netherlands, Belgium, and India, received special and exceptional recognition from the jury of the twentieth Zurich International Film Festival.

The documentary "E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea," directed by "Beatrice Minger" and "Christoph Schaub," produced in Switzerland, was appreciated by the critics of this festival for its bold and original structure, as well as the use of landscape to tell a complex story.
“International Film Music Competition” Awards
