Ontario hospitals welcomed a group of babies in the first minutes of the new year 2025, with the first newborn being a baby born at Mississauga Hospital just four seconds after midnight.
Mississauga:
• The baby, Huwaifa, was born to parents Sameer and Mahmoud.
• The mother said: "We were expecting his birth on December 31, but he decided to wait until 2025."
• Trillium Health Partners Hospital confirmed that both mother and baby are in good health.
Toronto:
• Five minutes into the new year, baby Harper was born to parents Chris and Makayla O'Hare.
• Harper weighs seven pounds and 14 ounces.
Newmarket:
• At 12:55 AM, baby Jimi-Lynn was born at Southlake Health Hospital.
• She is described as the first baby born in the York region in 2025.
Barrie:
• At 1:17 AM, baby Scotty was born to Janiel Lehman and her partner Quinn Steele at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
• The mother said: "I tried hard to avoid having a December baby."
Oshawa:
• At 1:56 AM, a baby girl was born to parents Navithra Govindarasu and Ratnajiri Aithan at Lakeridge Health Hospital.
• The baby's name has not yet been chosen.
Vaughan:
• At 2:45 AM, baby Anhad was born to parents Tranbit and Vijaya at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.
• He was born weighing six pounds and two ounces.
Markham:
• At 3:33 AM, baby Lennox was born at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
• The hospital described the parents as "very happy."
Brampton:
• At 6:01 AM, a baby girl was born to parents Awa Sinan and Amadou Sane at Brampton Hospital.
• The baby is the younger sister of Amira and Yahya, weighing seven pounds and three and a half ounces.
These births mark a joyful beginning to 2025 in Ontario, as families welcomed their children with love and joy.
