The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that they were able to dismantle a large network specializing in smuggling immigrants from Canada to the United States over the course of a year.

The police stated that they cooperated with American authorities regarding the investigation into this matter, and four individuals were arrested, while warrants were issued for four others.

The security agencies also added that the network had confiscated thousands of dollars from immigrants who had already reached Canada, but had come from elsewhere, and helped them reach the United States by crossing the Saint Lawrence River border, from July 2022 to June 2023.

The Canadian police also reported that some immigrants put their lives at risk; as some lost their lives while attempting to cross the border.
