The Organization of Islamic Cooperation warned of the ongoing "genocide and ethnic cleansing" in the Gaza Strip, in light of the continuous Israeli attacks on it since October 7.
This came in its final statement following the 15th summit of the "Islamic Cooperation," which was held in the Gambian capital, Banjul, on Saturday and Sunday.
The final statement called for an "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire and an end to the attacks on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, alongside the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, the opening of a humanitarian corridor, and ensuring water and electricity, according to what was reported by the Anadolu Agency.
It also warned of the continuation of "genocide and ethnic cleansing" in the region, amid ongoing deprivation of water, fuel, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid entry.
The statement emphasized its overall rejection of forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from their lands or transferring them to other areas.
It also called on the international community to pressure Israel to comply with international law and United Nations resolutions.
It demanded the cessation of occupation and colonial policies and practices of apartheid in the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, stressing that the continuation of these practices will prolong the conflict, cause further pain and chaos in the region, and reduce the chances of achieving a two-state solution.
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli Occupation Army stated in a statement that it had urged "civilians to temporarily evacuate from the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah" and go to the Mawasi area.
It added: "This operation will proceed gradually based on the continuous assessment of the ongoing situation."
