The Yemeni Houthi group announced today, Friday, that the United States and Britain launched 5 airstrikes on the coastal governorate of Hodeidah in the west of the country.

The channel "Al-Masirah," speaking on behalf of the Houthis, reported through its website that "the American-British aggression launched 4 airstrikes on Hodeidah Airport."

Hodeidah Airport is located south of the governorate overlooking Yemen's western coast, and it has a runway that is 3 kilometers long. Before the war (between the government and the Houthis 9 years ago), the airport provided services for domestic and international flights, but it is currently closed due to the repercussions of the conflict, according to Anadolu Agency.

Additionally, "the American-British aggression targeted fishing boats in the Al-Jad harbor at the Salif port in the same governorate," according to the source.

The channel did not provide details about the results of these airstrikes, and there was no immediate response from the American or British side as of now.

Hodeidah is considered one of the most important Yemeni governorates as it hosts an international airport and 3 vital ports, in addition to having a long coastal strip.

Since the beginning of this year, the coalition led by Washington has been conducting airstrikes that it claims target "Houthi positions" in various areas of Yemen, in response to their attacks in the Red Sea, which has been met with a response from the group from time to time.
