The Canadian police announced the discovery of the body of a 33-year-old Iranian woman who was killed last week and was found inside a bag in St. John, according to an announcement by the Royal Newfoundland Police yesterday, Saturday.
Officer James Cadigan reported that the deceased was a 33-year-old woman found in a bag in the Water Street area near Springdale Street, and the Chief Medical Examiner's office estimates she died several days ago.
He revealed that the main suspect in her murder is her husband, a 34-year-old man who is also from Iran.
Cadigan stated that the 34-year-old Iranian man was found dead in his downtown home, and the investigation into the man's death is ongoing in consultation with the Chief Forensic Doctor to determine the cause.
The police are still investigating whether the man's death is a homicide or suicide.
This came just one day after the discovery of his wife's body, prompting police to classify the crime as suspicious, despite the woman being found in a bag.
The police had also released a photo of the man dragging the bag, hoping to gather information from the public about his movements prior to the death.
Investigations indicated that the suspect was likely walking for some time while navigating through some residential areas towards Water Street.
