In the midst of escalating tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing war in Gaza and Lebanon, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that these wars would not have erupted if he had been president of the United States.
In an interview with Al Arabiya, Trump said: "If I were president, I would never have started that war, and all these people would not have been killed," adding that "all these destroyed cities and areas would not have happened." He also confirmed that if he had been president, the October 7 attack carried out by Hamas on settlements and Israeli bases would not have occurred.
The Republican candidate explained that the destruction and hatred that followed the October 7 attack would not have happened under his administration.
Trump had previously mentioned repeatedly his ability to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war, without presenting a clear plan or details on how to achieve that. He also emphasized that Iran would not have dared to move or provide additional support to its factions in the region if he were in power.
It is worth noting that the Gaza Strip has been under the burden of the Israeli war since October 7 of last year, after Hamas launched an attack on Israeli settlements and military bases. Israel responded with a bombing campaign and ground operations that resulted in the martyrdom of at least 42,519 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to the latest data from the health ministry in Gaza.
