Residents of southern Ontario wake up to another rainy day as the storm continues over parts of the province.
Environment Canada said that the heavy rainfall warning remains in effect for an area including the Greater Toronto Area, with over 100 mm of rain expected in some regions.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to taper off by noon on Monday, becoming scattered showers.
The rain in the area is part of a larger storm system that wreaked havoc yesterday in southern Ontario.
A tornado hit the community of Ayr, about 115 kilometers southwest of Toronto.
The Northern Hurricanes Project at Western University confirmed that the tornado struck the area around 11 a.m. on Saturday, bringing with it winds of up to 165 kilometers per hour.
David Seals, the project's executive director, said his teams are still assessing the extent of the storm's impact.
Seals added, "Trees have fallen in every possible direction," but he acknowledged that "this was on the weaker side."
Southern and southwestern Ontario are not the only parts of the province dealing with strong winds and stormy weather.
Environment Canada has issued a warning for active heavy rainfall in the North Bay area.
Up to 25 mm of rain is expected in the area throughout Sunday, with winds reaching speeds of 60 kilometers per hour all day.
