Police announced yesterday, Friday, the death of a three-year-old boy and the injury of his sister and mother after they were struck by a pickup truck in southwest Edmonton the day before yesterday, Thursday.
The Edmonton Police Service confirmed that the family was crossing Allard Road southwest, using a marked crosswalk, when they were hit by a truck that was turning left. This occurred shortly after 5 PM.
Edmonton Police explained that a Ford F-150 truck, driven by a 30-year-old man, was heading north on Allard Road southwest when it "stopped abruptly" at a three-way stop on Allard Road southwest before veering left and colliding with the family.
The boy died at the scene. The 39-year-old mother and the seven-year-old girl were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to EPS.
The police added that the driver of the F-150 remained at the scene and was not injured.
Investigators in the Major Collision Investigative Section (MCIS) of EPS do not believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the fatal collision.
