Lawyers for two men convicted of mischief in the border blockade in Coutts, Alberta, are set to appear in court today as the case moves toward sentencing.
The jury also found Anthony Olijnyk and Chris Karbert guilty on August 2 of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and Olijnyk was convicted of possession of a pipe bomb.
They were acquitted of the more serious charge of conspiracy to kill police officers.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police found a cache of weapons, ammunition, and body armor near the blockade at the Canada-U.S. border in 2022.
The blockade was one of several protests held across the country against COVID-19 rules and vaccine mandates.
The trial heard statements and text messages from the men warning that the blockade was also the last stand against an oppressive federal government.
