Star gazers in Ottawa and Gatineau enjoyed a stunning light display this week, as the northern lights illuminated the sky.
The aurora borealis was visible in the National Capital Region on Sunday night and Monday morning.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the northern lights are caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun colliding with the Earth's upper atmosphere, redirecting the Earth's magnetic field to guide particles towards the poles, creating the cinematic phenomenon.
