Betty Brosell, 99 years old, broke three world records in the age group of 100 to 104 years.

The Canadian broke the current world record in the 400 meters freestyle race, trailing by about four minutes from the previous time, and repeated her record-breaking performance in the 50 meters backstroke and 50 meters breaststroke on the same day.

Although she has not yet reached 100 years, the swimmer uses the competitors' birth year to determine the age group, and thus Brosell will compete in the 100 to 104 age group for the rest of the year.

Brosell first got interested in competitive swimming in her mid-sixties, when she participated in the British Columbia senior games, and has set new records since then.

Over the years, she maintained a steady training routine in swimming, swimming twice a week without any training sessions.
