The federal Canadian government announced the launch of a website that illustrates equality and comparison between wages and employment of Indigenous peoples, women, minorities, and people with disabilities within the private sector subject to the federal system.
The site is called Equi Vision, which provides a visualization that allows users to successfully compare data regarding wage gaps and the disparities faced by each category.
Minister of Labour Seamus O'Regan indicated in this regard that this program is a good way to identify areas of imbalance in terms of wages or employment.
The program revealed that Indigenous peoples represent only 1.5% of employees, while they constitute 4% of Canada's population, making them the lowest category among the sectors included in the data sets.
