U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met today, Tuesday, with Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. State Department on Tuesday morning, Blinken reaffirmed the United States' steadfast commitment to Israel's security during the meeting.
Blanken discussed with the Israeli officials the steps to address the remaining issues in the negotiations regarding a ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of reaching an agreement that ensures the release of hostages and alleviates the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The American minister stressed the need to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza, noting that "Israel needs to take further steps to minimize civilian casualties."
He also discussed the importance of avoiding further escalation along the Israeli-Lebanese border, and finding a diplomatic solution that allows Israeli and Lebanese families to return to their homes.
