The French adventurer Philippe Petit, who became world-famous in 1974 by tightrope walking between the towers of the World Trade Center in New York - is now planning a new remarkable feat in New York at the age of 74.
Petit announced that he will walk on a high tightrope inside St. John's Cathedral in Manhattan next Thursday,.
The special thing is that Petit will walk in an exhibition specially designed for the church, where the American artist Ann Patterson hung more than 1100 colorful ribbons from the church ceiling. This will also be accompanied by music.
Among other daring heroic acts, Petit has already walked on a tightrope between the towers of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, across the Seine River to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and between St. Paul's Church and the cathedral during the 1200th anniversary celebrations in Frankfurt in 1994 - always without being secured by safety ropes.
