York Regional Police announced that they continue to search for the suspect in the investigation of car theft, who was seen in a video running over a police officer in Toronto last month.

The police found two stolen vehicles around 7:30 AM on April 30, at Thorncliffe Park Drive near Overlea Boulevard in the East York area.

Police reported that they found two suspects at the scene and arrested one of them after a brief foot chase, identified as 18-year-old Ahmed Abdel-Was'e from Toronto.

The authorities also charged Abdel-Was'e with multiple offenses including two counts of car theft, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of trafficking in property obtained by crime.

The police allege that the second suspect entered a vehicle, drove towards the police, and struck a cruiser and an officer.

In a video of the incident released by the police yesterday, Friday, the driver can be seen speeding as an officer runs towards the vehicle.

Police also said that the suspect crashed his vehicle into a nearby building and fled the area on foot.

The officer was not seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The police described the suspect as a thin man with black hair and are asking citizens for help
in identifying him.
