York police were able to arrest a man accused of killing a woman whose body was found after she had been missing for more than a week in Markham.
The police had previously announced the identity of the woman, who is Ying Chang, 57, found dead in the Kawartha Lakes area; she worked at a health center in a commercial plaza in the area.
Her family reported her missing when she did not return.
York police in Ontario reported that the body of a missing woman was found in Markham last week.
York Regional Police stated that the body found belonging to the woman had not yet been identified and was located more than 100 kilometers northeast of Markham in the area of Palestine Road and Vine Hill in Kawartha Lakes.
She was discovered on July 30 while search and rescue teams were combing the area searching for Ying Chang.
Security investigations earlier this week indicated that a suspect vehicle, described as a white truck, was seen at the site of Chang's disappearance on July 25 near Woodbine Avenue and Steelcase Road.
Security investigations suggest that the truck traveled to Kawartha Lakes on the same day Chang went missing, and charges were laid against Changlin Yang, 26, of East Gwillimbury, Ontario, for kidnapping, forcible confinement, and aggravated assault related to Chang's disappearance.
It has not been disclosed who was driving the white truck on the day Chang disappeared.
It is worth noting that police announced on July 29 that they had charged 26-year-old Changlin Yang from East Gwillimbury, Ontario, with kidnapping, forcible confinement, and aggravated assault in connection with Chang's disappearance.
Police also stated that the charges have now been upgraded to second-degree murder.
