Fire crews responded on Friday morning to reports of a fire on Southwood Street near Iris Street, in the Ridgeview neighborhood of West Ottawa, around 8 a.m.
Ottawa Fire Services posted a video on the platform "X" showing firefighters battling the fire, with smoke continuing to billow from the roof of the house. A spokesperson for Fire Services explained that the fire broke out in the basement of the home.
Smoke from the fire was visible from several distant streets, and the spokesperson for Ottawa Paramedic Services confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It is noted that this fire is the seventh that Ottawa fire crews have responded to this week.
• Three people were evacuated after a fire broke out on Thursday morning on Ron Kolbus Private inside a three-story building due to a dryer catching fire.
• Ten people were also evacuated as a result of a fire that broke out on Tuesday morning in a townhouse on Ogilvie Street.
