The White House said on Monday that the United States is working on "sending a strong deterrent message to Iran, amid rising concerns of a broader regional conflict."
John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator at the U.S. National Security Council, said: "We will certainly act if we need to continue protecting our forces and facilities. We have proven that we will strike and act to do so, and this is a strong message that Iran needs to take seriously."
Kirby also added: "We take these responsibilities seriously."
Kirby confirmed: "We also take our national security interests in the region very seriously, which is why the President has now deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups."
The U.S. official also said: "We have to make sure we send a signal to all actors, not just Iran, but also all parties, including Iran certainly, that we will take our national security interests seriously. We will protect and defend our forces. And we will do so in a timely manner and in the way we determine."
Meanwhile, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Sunday that Israel "has crossed red lines, and it may force everyone to take action."
