The Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" reported that political sources in Israel published an update on Saturday night-Sunday regarding the draft of the proposed American Security Council resolution on Gaza.

The draft resolution in its new text calls for an "immediate and permanent ceasefire," and includes a rejection of the anticipated Israeli military operation in Rafah, where the new draft contains a stricter text on the issues of ceasefire and Rafah, unlike the previous version, which only addressed the risks of the military operation in Rafah on the civilian population under current circumstances.

The proposed draft resolution underwent a number of changes and amendments, and it is currently in its final form, which can no longer be changed, according to the Israeli political sources who received the update.

The draft resolution is expected to be put to a vote in the United Nations Security Council in its current version.

According to Maariv, Israeli sources described the new amendments to the final draft resolution prepared by the Americans to be immediately presented for a Security Council vote, as a "serious deterioration in wording and tone," for Israel.

The sources confirm that the wording of the American draft resolution does not allow for ground military maneuvers by the Israeli army, expressing deep concern about the possibility of an Israeli ground operation in Rafah, and affirming that the Israeli army’s maneuver in the Rafah area involves a real danger, the danger of violating international humanitarian law.

The final draft of the American resolution refers to diplomatic efforts to begin implementing an immediate ceasefire agreement, and the Americans will express their support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire as part of a prisoner exchange deal, according to Maariv.

Maariv states that, according to Israeli estimates, the United States will seek to hold a vote on the resolution early this week, aiming to expedite the Security Council vote as much as possible for fear of another rival resolution being proposed that would be clearly negative for Israel.

Earlier on Saturday, a senior Israeli official said that Washington had begun delaying some military aid and that Israel might lose the war with Hamas in Gaza.

John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator at the U.S. National Security Council, said that any military operation in the city of Rafah without considering the safety of civilians would be catastrophic.

The head of the Israeli Mossad, David Barnea, is scheduled to head to Qatar on Monday to resume ceasefire talks in Gaza, according to the "Yedioth Ahronoth" newspaper.
