The Canadian environment and climate change issued warnings today, Wednesday, of severe thunderstorms for the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, the Halton Region, the Durham Region, and all of Southern Ontario.
Hamilton has a severe thunderstorm warning, and conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain, according to the Canadian Ministry of Environment in their advisory.
The area could experience heavy rain with up to 50 mm within an hour, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 90 km/h.
The storms are expected to hit this Wednesday afternoon, and large hail could damage property and cause injury.
The Canadian Ministry of Environment warned that strong wind gusts could toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break tree branches, and overturn large vehicles.
Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding and water accumulation on roads, as occurred in Southern Ontario just a week ago.
Water-related activities may be unsafe due to sudden and violent wind gusts over bodies of water.
