U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken inspected today, Sunday, the warehouses of the World Food Program in the Jordanian capital Amman, and the aid scheduled to be sent to the Gaza Strip.
The American channel "Alhurra" stated that this comes within the framework of the U.S. Secretary of State's visit to Jordan, where he met this morning after his arrival in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss the latest developments of the war in Gaza.
The U.S. Secretary of State Blinken is scheduled to visit several countries in the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the West Bank, and Israel to discuss ways to prevent the expansion of the conflict.
Blinken also visited Turkey where he met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Turkey, and they discussed the war on the Gaza Strip.
During the talks, the U.S. Secretary of State confirmed the need to prevent the expansion of the conflict and the importance of increasing humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.
According to a statement published on the official U.S. State Department website, Blinken stressed the responsibility of "all parties" to set a path to achieve lasting security for Israelis, Palestinians, and the broader region.
They also discussed shared priorities as members of NATO, where Blinken emphasized the importance of completing the final steps to ratify Sweden's accession to NATO and addressing sanctions or evasion of export controls.
Blinken met yesterday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and discussed the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, stressing the necessity of exerting all possible efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict and secure the release of detainees.
This was preceded by a visit by the U.S. Secretary of State to Greece where he met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the Greek island of Crete and they discussed the situation in the Middle East.
A statement on the official website of the U.S. Department of State stated that Blinken and Mitsotakis affirmed strengthening bilateral relations and shared their commitment as allies within NATO to democracy, peace, and prosperity.
The two officials discussed the current situation in the Middle East region, and Blinken thanked the Greek Prime Minister for Greece's regional leadership including ongoing support for Ukraine, sending life-saving aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea through participation in the Guard of Prosperity coalition operations.
