The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced the killing of 136 United Nations staff members in Gaza over 75 days.. adding that the way Tel Aviv is carrying out its attack on civilians in Gaza creates huge obstacles to the distribution of humanitarian aid inside Gaza.

Guterres added via his account on the X platform today, Saturday, "Something we have not seen in the history of the United Nations (..) Most of our staff have been displaced from their homes."

Guterres emphasized that an effective relief operation in Gaza requires security, the presence of staff working safely, logistical capacity, and the resumption of commercial activity.

Guterres saluted the workers of the UN organization and thousands of humanitarian workers who risk their lives to support civilians in Gaza.

What is happening in Gaza is unprecedented

Guterres added, during a press conference following the Security Council vote on a draft resolution to expand and monitor humanitarian aid to Gaza, that what is happening in Gaza is unprecedented, and the war must stop to deliver aid.

Guterres continued: "We waited 70 days to obtain Tel Aviv's approval to open the Kerem Abu Salem crossing for aid."

He also expressed his strong dissatisfaction with remarks by officials in Tel Aviv who doubt the two-state solution, stressing that "a humanitarian ceasefire is the only way to stop the suffering."
