Former U.S. President Donald Trump said that his successor Joe Biden is threatening democracy in the country and is not even qualified to run a store.
Trump told his supporters: "No president, not even ten presidents in the country's history, could cause as much damage to this country as Joe Biden has. He has done unimaginable things."
In turn, Biden said in a speech he delivered on Friday in Pennsylvania that Trump is "willing to sacrifice democracy to gain power."
Trump, for his part, rejected his successor's accusations that he poses a threat to democracy. Trump said: "They are using the government as a weapon, and they say that I am a threat to democracy." Trump also said that Biden is incapable even of running a small store.
President Joe Biden launched his 2024 U.S. presidential election campaign with a speech on Friday, in which he warned of the danger posed by his predecessor and likely rival Donald Trump to democracy in the United States three years after the Capitol attack.
