The Security Council announced that it will vote tomorrow, Thursday, on a draft resolution regarding Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

The Permanent Mission of Palestine to the United Nations clarified via its account on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter) today, Wednesday, that Algeria submitted the draft resolution on behalf of the Arab group, according to what was reported by the Anadolu Agency.

The text of the draft resolution states: "It is recommended to accept Palestine as a full member of the United Nations General Assembly."

According to information obtained by Anadolu Agency, it is expected that the vote on the draft law will take place at a meeting on Palestine at the ministerial level scheduled for April 18 at the United Nations Security Council.

The U.S. administration had hinted at its intention to use its veto power if full membership for Palestine is brought up in the United Nations.

U.S. Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Robert Wood, stated that his country's position has not changed in this regard, adding: "We believe that the issue of full membership for Palestine is a matter that should be negotiated between Israel and the Palestinians."

Palestine was granted the status of a non-member observer state at the United Nations following a decision adopted by the General Assembly with a large majority on November 29, 2012.

Palestine submitted a request for full membership in the United Nations in 2011, but this request did not receive the necessary support in the Security Council.

On April 2 of this year, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres requesting a reconsideration of the membership application.

For his part, Guterres wrote a letter to the United Nations Security Council on April 3, calling for the inclusion of Palestine's request on the agenda.
