The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, confirmed today, Tuesday, that "the launch of the ceasefire process in Gaza will undoubtedly reflect a calm in southern Lebanon."

The "National Media Agency" reported Michel as saying, during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib, at the Dead Sea in Jordan: "We understand the Lebanese position regarding the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon."

He pointed out that "European leaders are aware of the pressures this file places on Lebanon and believe that the path to solving this dilemma will accelerate after the European elections."

Jordan is hosting today the proceedings of the international conference for emergency humanitarian response for Gaza, which aims to mobilize international community support for humanitarian relief efforts in the Gaza Strip, with the participation of several heads of states, governments, and international humanitarian and relief organizations.
