The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued a distress call regarding electric generators to the international community, UN organizations, and all Arab, Islamic, and friendly countries; in an attempt to save the health system and support it by purchasing several necessary generators to ensure the operation of hospitals.
The ministry noted in a statement via its official page on the social media site "Facebook," today Wednesday, that it has been relying on diesel-powered generators for about 9 months to supply hospitals with the necessary electricity.
It stated that "these generators operate around the clock without interruption, and many of them have suffered significant technical malfunctions that are difficult to repair, while some of those generators have been subjected to destruction and direct shelling by the brutal occupation."
It predicted "the failure of several main generators in the upcoming period; as a result of the ban on the entry of spare parts necessary for preventive and periodic maintenance to ensure the continued operation of the generators," noting that "this means certain death for patients and injured individuals and the complete cessation of health services."
It pointed out that "the occupation army has tried to incapacitate the health system by destroying all electric generators in: Al-Shifa Complex, Nasser Complex, the Indonesian Hospital, and recently destroying the generators of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza."
It indicated that "one of the most important main generators at Al-Aqsa Hospital recently malfunctioned," stating that "the hospital is operating with one generator without interruption, and this means a disaster is imminent and the hospital will be completely out of service."
It clarified that it has been trying since the beginning of the war with several relevant international parties to work on supplying and purchasing generators but to no avail, pointing to the fact that "the ban comes by order of the occupation."
