The Canadian Olympic Committee said it has revoked the accreditation of sprinter Andre De Grasse's coach, Rana Ryder, who has won six Olympic medals.
The Canadian Olympic Committee clarified that "new information" has emerged regarding the appropriateness of accrediting coach Rana Ryder.
It noted that Ryder had been under scrutiny by the U.S. Center for Safe Sport until May of this year, and his accreditation was based on the understanding that he had no suspensions or other sanctions against him.
The International Olympic Committee did not specify the nature of the new information, but it stated that Ryder is only accredited as a personal coach with access to warm-up and training areas.
British media reported that the decision is related to safety concerns and allegations of sexual and emotional abuse, showing court documents filed in Broward County, Florida, where three women have filed a lawsuit against Ryder.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and no charges have been brought against Ryder for a crime.
