Stellantis is now negotiating, having reached a temporary agreement with the United Auto Workers union on Saturday to avoid a strike at its operations in Canada.
Bloomberg News reported that the Unifor union, which represents auto workers in Canada, is trying to persuade the car company to agree to a similar deal to the new three-year agreements it signed with both Ford Motor and General Motors.
The union warned that workers will strike if there is no agreement by midnight Toronto time on Sunday.
While Unifor President Lana Payne said earlier this month that she expects some resistance from Stellantis, the union mentioned last Friday that there had been some progress in the negotiations.
The United Auto Workers union targeted the three auto companies in Detroit simultaneously and extended its strikes in the United States earlier this week against General Motors.
