South African President Cyril Ramaphosa accused the country's main opposition party of treason after they published an election advertisement showing the national flag being burned.

The "Democratic Alliance" video, which is 30 seconds long and was released a few days ago, is accompanied by a voiceover hinting at how the ruling "African National Congress" party would do anything to retain power, according to Bloomberg News on Wednesday.

Many opinion polls show that the "African National Congress" risks losing its parliamentary majority in the elections scheduled for May 29, for the first time since the end of white minority rule nearly three decades ago, amid negative reactions to modest government services, its failure to address poor service delivery, high unemployment rates, crime and violence, and power outages.
