A joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to Qatar on Tuesday, and the convening of the seventh meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.
The statement emphasized enhancing security cooperation in a way that contributes to supporting the stability of the region, and stressed the importance of continuing political cooperation regarding regional and international issues.
It pointed to the necessity of seriously striving to expand bilateral cooperation to achieve a future renaissance for the two countries, referring to the strengthening of economic partnerships to diversify and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
Regarding security and military affairs, the two sides highlighted the importance of enhancing security and military cooperation in a way that supports the security and stability of the region, in addition to consolidating cooperation in the areas of training, military scholarships, exchanging expertise, and building partnerships in security and military fields.
Developments in the Palestinian Issue
At the regional level, the Saudi-Qatari statement stressed the necessity to put an end to Israeli violations and stop the forced displacement of Palestinians, and intensify efforts for a comprehensive settlement in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution.
The two countries expressed their deep concern over the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, and the brutal crimes witnessed, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of unarmed civilians including children, women, and the elderly, and the destruction of vital facilities, places of worship, and infrastructure due to Israeli attacks.
The two sides stressed the necessity of enabling international humanitarian organizations to carry out their role in providing relief aid to the Palestinian people, including United Nations organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and supporting its efforts in this regard.
The Yemeni Issue
On the Yemeni issue, the two sides stressed the importance of full support for UN and regional efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, appreciated the UN efforts in enhancing commitment to the truce, and pointed to the importance of the positive engagement of all relevant parties with international and UN efforts aimed at ending the Yemeni crisis and seriously dealing with peace initiatives and efforts in accordance with the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and UN Security Council Resolution No. (2216).
Sudan Developments
Regarding developments in Sudan, the two sides confirmed the importance of commitment of the conflicting parties in Sudan to a ceasefire, building on the Jeddah Declaration (commitment to protect civilians in Sudan) on May 11, and humanitarian arrangements within the framework of international humanitarian law on May 20, in order to end the ongoing conflict in Sudan and resume political dialogue among all parties.
Regarding the Syrian issue, they touched on the importance of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis that ends all its repercussions and contributes to the safe voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their country, and preserves Syria's unity and territorial integrity, expressing their hope that the Syrian government will take serious steps to address the roots of this crisis.
The Ukrainian Crisis
Internationally, the two sides renewed their keenness to continue coordination between them and intensify efforts aimed at preserving international peace and security. They exchanged views on issues of interest to both countries at the regional and international levels, affirmed their determination to enhance cooperation and joint coordination towards them, and continue their support for everything that would establish peace and stability in the region and the world.
Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the two countries affirmed the importance of settling disputes through peaceful means, and exerting possible efforts to reduce escalation in a way that contributes to restoring security and stability and limiting the negative repercussions of this crisis.
