The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, expressed his support for the proposal to ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In a post on his account on X platform today, Saturday, he stated that he supports the proposal for a permanent ceasefire announced by US President Joe Biden. He added that his country supports the call for the release of prisoners and providing more humanitarian aid to Gaza, urging all parties to participate and support.
Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that there cannot be a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip before destroying Hamas, as he put it.
This came after US President Joe Biden announced yesterday, Friday, that Israel proposed an agreement including a preliminary truce lasting six weeks with a partial withdrawal of the occupation army and the release of some prisoners, while both sides negotiate a permanent cessation of hostilities.
Netanyahu stated in a statement today, Saturday, that the idea that Israel would agree to a permanent ceasefire before destroying Hamas's military and leadership capabilities is not on the table, according to him, according to Reuters. Hamas confirmed yesterday, Friday, that it is ready to deal positively and constructively with any proposal based on a permanent ceasefire and complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
