Two suspects were detained by the police following a warning from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) that briefly urged residents of the central Nova Scotia community to take shelter in their homes.

The Mounties issued a post on social media on Saturday afternoon stating that there was a heavy police presence on a street in Millbrook while officers were investigating the possibility of shots fired, adding that one man was detained.

They later issued a dangerous person alert at 5:13 PM. The police warned of dangerous individuals armed with firearms in Millbrook, local time in Colchester County, and encouraged residents to seek immediate shelter with doors and windows closed.

The alert stated that there was no description of the suspects, but noted that they were believed to be on foot and that drivers should not pick up pedestrians.

The alert was canceled after about two hours following the arrest of two suspects, and the police said there was no longer any danger to the public.

The police also confirm that they do not believe there are any additional suspects.
