The spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent, Dr. Abdel Jalil Hanjel, confirmed today, Wednesday, that 22 hospitals out of 35 in the Gaza Strip are out of service.
Hanjel said, in a statement to "Cairo News" channel, that the ambulance sector of the Palestinian Red Crescent was severely affected in Gaza due to the Israeli bombing and fuel shortage.
He pointed to the damage to a large number of ambulances as a result of the Israeli bombing, saying: "There are only 13 ambulances operating in the Gaza Strip and 71 medical staff working in the ambulance department."
He added that the Israeli occupation forces targeted an ambulance that was transporting 11 patients from Al-Mohammadi Hospital, resulting in the martyrdom of one of the injured, confirming that the Palestinian Red Crescent is working to provide services to displaced persons and patients at Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis.
Yesterday, Hanjel announced that the entry of fuel into the Gaza Strip is a top priority, saying: "Fuel must be brought into Gaza so that hospitals do not cease to operate."
In a related context, the government media office in Gaza announced that the Israeli army arrested Ahmed Al-Kahloot, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, and took him to an unknown location outside the hospital.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that the Israeli forces stormed the hospital and took Al-Kahloot to an unknown place, and also detained 70 medical staff.
The storming forces asked the remaining staff to gather all patients and staff in one building.
The Wafa Agency mentioned that Israeli soldiers stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital on Tuesday after besieging and bombing it for several days.
Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that "the occupation forces gathered the medical teams and displaced men in the yard of Kamal Adwan Hospital."
The same sources called on the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the Red Cross to move to save those present in the hospital.
The hospital director, Ahmed Al-Kahloot, announced on Monday that "the occupation forces directly bombed the maternity ward, resulting in the martyrdom of two women and their children and the amputation of the legs of a third woman."
He said there are 65 injuries, 12 children in intensive care, 6 premature infants, 100 medical staff, and 3,000 displaced persons inside the hospital.
Israeli forces have previously stormed most hospitals in Gaza and northern Gaza, abused medical staff, displaced persons, patients, and the injured, and arrested 34 medical staff.
