Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received today, Thursday, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
During the meeting, the latest developments on the Palestinian arena were discussed, as well as the latest updates on the ongoing efforts to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people. The Palestinian president emphasized the necessity of consolidating the current ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and achieving a complete halt to the Israeli aggression, in order to spare civilians from the havoc of bombing, killing, and destruction caused by the Israeli killing machine.
Mahmoud Abbas stressed the importance of doubling relief, medical, and food supplies, and providing water, electricity, and fuel as quickly as possible, and offering the necessary aid so that hospitals and essential facilities can resume their work in treating thousands of wounded and providing services to the people.
The president also handed Blinken a full file on Israeli occupation crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, consisting of killings, destruction, ethnic cleansing crimes, and other offenses.
Regarding the oppressive measures carried out by the occupation authorities against Palestinian prisoners, the president demanded obliging the occupation government to immediately stop these measures and violations against the prisoners and the people.
He reiterated the rejection and prevention of forced displacement of the Palestinian people, whether in the Gaza Strip or in the West Bank including Jerusalem, stressing the necessity of American intervention to prevent the Israeli occupation authorities from evicting Palestinian residents in the West Bank, especially in the Jordan Valley areas, which are witnessing a silent and planned annexation by settlers and the Israeli occupation army, as well as stopping attacks by terrorist settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The president pointed out that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian state, and there can be no acceptance or dealing with the occupation authorities' plans to separate it, stressing the necessity of releasing the Palestinian clearance funds, and that our people in the Gaza Strip will have priority and will not be abandoned, as they are the responsibility of the State of Palestine and under its administration.
President Abbas confirmed the necessity for the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations and to hold the International Peace Conference, affirming that peace and security are achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, which includes the entire land of the State of Palestine in the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, and the recognition of the State of Palestine, and that military and security solutions have proven their failure and will not achieve security and stability for the region.
