Ottawa Police urge drivers to get a port lock for their car or park it in a secure garage after dozens of vehicle thefts so far this summer.
In particular, more than 70 Honda CR-V cars alone have been stolen in the past six weeks in Ottawa.
The police said on Twitter: "Vehicles are often stolen during nighttime hours, and this is happening throughout the city."
Nearly 500 cars have been reported stolen across the city of Ottawa so far this year, as of August 9.
The police said there is an increase in car thefts, targeting the latest models of Dodge Durango, Jeep Cherokee, Honda Pilots, and Honda CR-.
The police added: "Thieves roam neighborhoods and photograph the cars in driveways that interest them, and return later at night.
If your car is not visible, it is not a target for theft."
Other tips to protect your vehicle include getting a Port Lock or an electronic vehicle immobilizer.
Since August 9, these have been the stolen cars in Ottawa this year.
