Ontario Police: Seized $1.3 million in cocaine and $300,000 in cash

The police in Cornwall, Ontario seized nearly 1.3 million dollars worth of cocaine and 300,000 dollars in cash as part of a major investigation into drug-related case of Edgar.

The Cornwall Police Service announced the results of the investigation, dubbed "Project Resurrection," after executing a search warrant in the Portland Drive area on June 25.

The seizure operation was assisted by the Canada Border Services Agency, the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Intelligence Directorate, and the Ontario Provincial Police.

Cornwall Police Chief Shawna Spurgeon said in a press release on Tuesday, "A significant quantity of illegal drugs was seized during this investigation."

"This operation is a testament to our ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking and protect our community."

A 37-year-old man from Cornwall has been charged with the following:

 Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

 Possession of property obtained by crime valued at over 5,000 dollars

 Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

 Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

A 38-year-old man from Cornwall has been charged with the following:

 Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine

 Possession of property obtained by crime valued at over 5,000 dollars

 Two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

The police allege that the couple also had firearms in their possession, along with digital scales and packaging materials.

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
