The South Korean Ministry of Defense warned today, Tuesday, that North Korea will face the end of its regime if it attempts to use nuclear weapons, after North Korea stated that it conducted missile drills simulating a counter-nuclear strike.
North Korean state media reported that leader Kim Jong Un led tactical drills yesterday, Monday, simulating a counter-nuclear strike involving very large multiple rocket launchers against enemy targets, according to the "Yonhap" news agency.
Ministry spokesperson Jeon Ha Kyu said at a regular press conference: "If North Korea tries to use weapons, it will face an immediate, overwhelming, and decisive response from the South Korean-U.S. alliance, and the North Korean regime will meet its end."
Jeon stated that North Korea's ongoing provocations will only enhance South Korea's military capabilities, expand U.S. deterrence, and strengthen their trilateral security cooperation that includes Japan.
