The Hamilton police were able to capture one of Canada's most wanted criminals who has connections to a deadly shooting in downtown Kitchener last summer in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Hamilton police say that 21-year-old Habiton Solomon was arrested by chance during an unrelated investigation in the downtown area last Friday, with officers unaware that he was one of the top 25 fugitives wanted in the Bolo program.
A police spokesperson reported that Solomon attempted to flee during the arrest.
Solomon was a fugitive from the murder of Joshua Tarnue from Kitchener by gunfire in 2023 and gunfire during a late-night altercation in Hamilton.
The Waterloo Regional Police offered a reward of $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Two other men from Hamilton also faced charges in the murder of Tarnue, who was shot dead in front of a business near Queen Street and Charles Street in downtown Kitchener on August 13, 2023.
Tarnue was transported to a regional hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
In Hamilton, Solomon faces multiple charges related to intentionally discharging a firearm after gunfire erupted in a parking lot on Caroline and King Street West near Street North.
