Western media reported that the Israeli army targeted sites in Iran today, while Iranian officials denied any attack and confirmed that the sounds of explosions in Isfahan were a result of activating the Iranian air defense system.

The Iranian Supreme National Security Council affirmed that the country did not experience any external missile attack.

Iran stated that explosions occurred in the sky over the city of Isfahan and that air defenses were activated in the country's airspace, while Israeli and American reports spoke of Israel delivering a strike inside Iran.

The Iranian news agency (IRNA) confirmed that air defense systems were activated in the airspace of several provinces, while Iranian television reported news of loud sounds heard in Isfahan province in the center of the country.

Following a period of ambiguity, the Mehr news agency attributed the sounds of explosions to air defense shooting down three small drones in Isfahan's airspace early Friday, a claim also reported by Iranian television, which stated that the explosion sounds in several areas were due to air defenses responding to small drones.

At the same time, the Tasnim news agency confirmed that there were no explosions at any sensitive facility in Tabriz, northwestern Iran.

In the meantime, Iranian official media confirmed the suspension of flights at Tehran, Isfahan, and Shiraz airports. It is worth noting that there are many Iranian nuclear sites in Isfahan province, including Natanz, which is central to Iran's uranium enrichment program.

In contrast, Channel 12 in Israel reported briefly this Friday morning about a security meeting currently taking place at the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv, without mentioning the figures attending the meeting, according to Al Jazeera's correspondent Elias Karam, who noted that official Israel remains silent regarding the events.

For its part, an American official told Al Jazeera that they were aware of reports concerning Israel's strike inside Iran.

AFP reported that it had posed a question to the Israeli army regarding the explosions in Iran and strikes targeting sites in Syria, to which they responded, "We have no comment at this time."

Last Saturday, Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles toward Israel in response to a raid targeting the Iranian embassy complex in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of two leaders of the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guard, in addition to five military advisors.

The United States and Israel stated that most of the Iranian drones and missiles were intercepted before reaching Israel.
