Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he informed the United States that he opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state as part of any post-war scenario, highlighting the deep divisions between the close allies after three months of the Israeli attack on Gaza aimed at eliminating the Hamas rulers.

The United States called on Israel to reduce its offensive and said that the establishment of a Palestinian state should be part of the "day after".

But in a nationally broadcast press conference, Netanyahu pledged to continue the offensive until Israel achieves a "decisive victory over Hamas". He also rejected the idea of a Palestinian state, confirming that he had clarified his position to the Americans.

He continued, "In any future arrangement... Israel needs security control over all territories west of the Jordan River," adding that we must be able to say no to our friends.

More than 100 days after Hamas ignited the war with its attack on October 7, Israel continues to conduct one of the most deadly and destructive military campaigns in modern history, aimed at dismantling the armed group that has ruled Gaza since 2007 and returning dozens of hostages.

The war has sparked tensions throughout the region, threatening to ignite other conflicts.
