The Moroccan site "le 360" mentioned that the Moroccan authorities banned the distribution of the French magazine "Marianne" in the kingdom due to a cartoon considered offensive to the Prophet Muhammad.
The Moroccan site "le 360" quoted a government source as saying that the issue dated February 29 was banned from distribution due to "a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad, including some headlines that aim to distort or even smear the image in order to achieve more sales."
The source explained that this decision was based on the fact that Morocco "does not tolerate the lack of reverence and respect due to Islam, as is the case with all heavenly religions."
The source criticized the contempt shown by the French magazine towards a fundamental and sensitive issue for more than 1.5 billion Muslims in the world.
He also pointed out that the timing of publishing the cartoon on the eve of the blessed month of Ramadan increases the severity of this act.
This is the first time that the magazine "Marianne" has been banned in Morocco.
It was not the first time the magazine was criticized for its stance on Islam.
