Hebrew media reported today, Thursday, that Israel continues a state of alert on all fronts, with heightened vigilance at its embassies, since the assassination operation of leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Lebanon which Tel Aviv did not claim.
On January 2nd, Saleh Al-Arouri, Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of "Hamas," and 6 other cadres of the movement were assassinated; after an Israeli drone fired three rockets at a "Hamas" headquarters in the southern suburb of Beirut, according to a Lebanese announcement.
The Israeli government broadcasting authority said that "the state of maximum alert continues on all fronts," according to Anadolu Agency.
It continued: "Amid threats from Hamas and Hezbollah (Lebanese), the Air Force and forces stationed on the border with Lebanon were asked to increase vigilance."
Also, "Israeli embassies and Israeli and Jewish institutions worldwide were asked to increase vigilance," according to the authority.
It said that the Israeli security and political mini-cabinet will meet Thursday evening to discuss the developments.
Israel has neither claimed nor denied responsibility for the Beirut assassination operation, but Tel Aviv has a long history of assassinating leaders of Palestinian resistance factions outside the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israel fears a response from "Hezbollah" and "Hamas," after they accused Tel Aviv of responsibility for the assassination and vowed to respond to it.
