From time to time within Canada, many organizations and entities launch campaigns to boycott certain stores due to high prices of goods and products, and the latest was the announcement of a page on Reddit that it is preparing to organize a boycott of Loblaws due to the high prices of products and goods.

User u/Emmibolt, one of the boycott organizers, wrote: “Our community has witnessed hundreds of ridiculously priced goods, foolish deals, spoiled products, and more. Loblaws and other major grocery stores in Canada enjoy the benefits of monopolizing essential services, forcing us to pay ridiculously high prices.”

The post continued: Canadians are facing a cost of living crisis, and grocery stores are the main contributor to that. Vulnerable populations such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and those with fixed incomes are falling behind, and food banks across the country are seeing a significant increase in demand. Therefore, in response, our team has organized a boycott of Loblaws stores and called for action to provide relief to Canadians.”

The boycott is scheduled to take place in May 2024, and the boycott organizers ask citizens to avoid shopping at all stores owned by Loblaws, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, which include and other stores such as Real Canadian Superstores, Provigo across the country.

The boycott also aims to reduce prices by 15%.
