Dr. Saad Moussa, Supervisor of Foreign Relations and Quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture, revealed the status of strawberry prices following the decision to export them to Canada.
Moussa stated that the decision to export strawberries to Canada came after the increasing demand for Egyptian strawberries in its markets and the confirmation of a surplus of local production in the markets, noting that their prices in the domestic markets will not be affected at all.
He continued, saying: Egyptian strawberries are distinguished by high quality in global markets due to climatic factors that affect the quality of agricultural products, with export volume last year reaching 170,000 tons.
Mr. Al-Sayed Al-Qusair, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, had previously announced the opening of Canadian markets to strawberries, as part of the efforts made by the ministry to open new international markets for Egyptian agricultural products.
